On February 13th 2026 Saturn enters Aries and stays conjunct with Neptune in 0 degree of Aries for most of the year according to Tropical astrology. The magnitude of this event has been rippling through spiritual communities for years and months. But if we look at the same transit in Sidereal system, we’ll see less impressive configuration: both planets will be in 6 degrees of Pisces.

So how do both systems operate? And which one is more accurate?

Let’s get back to basics and look at Earth in more detail. As we established earlier, the Solar system has a star in its center, and multiple objects (planets and asteroids), sitting on a flat disk of ecliptic and rotating around the Sun. But our planet is not perpendicular to the ecliptic, and her equator is not aligned with it.

Seasonal shift

Due to the 23°44’ axial tilt Earth’s she receives different amounts of sunlight during a solar year that results in seasonal change across the globe. If Earth’s axis was perpendicular to the ecliptic, we would’ve never enjoyed the seasons, equinoxes or solstices.

The tilted axis, an imaginary line that connects North and South Poles, has its own rotational cycle (a wobble), that takes about 26,000 years. It is known as precession of equinoxes. This process shifts Earth’s angle of view across the sky approximately 1° every 72 years. As a result approximately every 2000 years equinox moves through a different constellation and North Pole aligns with a different star. Current North star is Polaris, in 14,000 years from now Vega will be the one.

Precession of equinoxes from modulouniverse.com

Tropical system was established on observation of the sky when vernal equinox was in Aries (roughly 2500 years ago) and got “frozen in time”, without taking precession of equinoxes in consideration. Sidereal system (Vedic included) on the other hand has been looking at the True Sky, actual stars and constellation placements. Once aligned, both systems drifted apart. Today it is 24° (almost one zodiac sign) between them.

Sidereal system looks at the solar year as a reflection of wider Universe, its actual place in cosmos, aligns with the True Sky and precise cosmic energies. Tropical system looks at the solar year through the lens of physicality and poetic metaphor. Vernal equinox is seen as beginning of zodiac, beginning of the cycle, reemergence after winter slumber, fiery energy of Aries our bodies feel. It celebrates human experience with flaws and faults that perfectly reflects imperfect collective energy of humanity.

Each system is just a lens we look through at the cosmic play. In both systems our personal alignments to deep space objects (stars, galaxies, black holes etc) do not change and their placements with specific energy signatures become a key to bridge physicality and humanness of Tropical point of view with scientific precision and detachment of Sidereal point of view.
