Swan and Phoenix dance on a New Moon

We are closing the eclipse season on March 18th 2026 with a New Moon at 28°27’ of Pisces (Tropical) or 4°13’ Pisces (Sidereal). It is a true Pisces New Moon that calls us to scrutinize our emotional body, its addictive patterns, delusions and fantasies projected into the future before we can fully launch a new life grounded in self-care and gentle action.

It is conjunct with two stars from different constellations: Pi-1 Cygni (Azelfafage) from the Swan constellation in the northern hemisphere and Gamma Phoenicis from the Phoenix constellation in the southern hemisphere.

Azelfafage has been tossed around the sky for a while. It has been assigned to Lyra with the name being translated as “turtoise”, to Pegasus with the name being translated as “horse track”, to Flying Serpent in Chinese astronomy being literally “The Forth Star of Flying Serpent”, until it finally found its place in Cygnus, the Swan. It asks us to look into the past where we were trying to fit in, to take on somebody else's identity, to be that metaphorical ugly duckling who eventually turned into a majestic swan when finally accepted its true nature.

Gamma Phoenicis located in one the Phoenix’s wings supports the process of rebirth, facilitates death of false identities and clears up the space for the true version of our being to emerge. It might feel like burning waters, caustic tears erode masks stuck on the face, remove behavioral patterns that seemed to be traits of character. In addition, Mercury retrograde in conjunction with North Node and PacMan Nebula instigates self-inquiry and helps identify and break free from outdated versions of the self. Find some time for journaling and creative writing.

The scope of retrospection on this New Moon is not limited to this lifetime. Get ready to peek into distant past and parallel lifetimes in your dreams and meditation. Leleakohonua, the farthest dwarf planet of the Solar system, that stands for multi-dimensional consciousness, is conjunct with asteroid DNA and Alchemar, the brightest star in Cepheus. We are invited to re-write the stories from a position of inner authority and sovereignty and re-activate dormant parts of our DNA.
